Anderson C. Hill II
President
Hill, the Founder and President of HZ Construction, Inc., hails from Little Rock, Arkansas, and has called Florida home since 1976. His journey of faith began at age 14 when he accepted Christ, a decision that has guided his life and career. Hill is a lifelong member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, holds a B.S. (‘76) from Clark College, and earned both a J.D. and M.B.A. from the University of Florida in 1982, where he was celebrated as the first minority graduate of UF’s JD/MBA program. He attributes each milestone to God’s grace and guidance.
His accolades include the Father of the Year Award (Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority) and the Male Role Model of the Year Award (Bethune-Cookman University). He was honored with the Humanitarian Award by the Anti-Recidivist Effort, Inc., a recognition of his compassion and dedication to helping others. A respected speaker, he has delivered motivational and faith-centered messages across the country, believing that God has called him to inspire and uplift. Hill is also the founder of Education is Cool – Get One, Inc., committed to encouraging education and perseverance among youth.
Through HZ Construction, he has been instrumental in administering over $90 million in contracts promoting minority business participation, notably at the Kia Center in Orlando. A graduate of Leadership Orlando and Leadership Orange, Hill has served the community in numerous roles, including as the Chair of Education for the Orange County NAACP, a 13-year member of the Orange County Schools Superintendent’s Advisory Committee, and a board member for Habitat for Humanity of Greater Orlando.
Hill is a devoted Deacon at Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church and the founder of Men of Jesus, Inc., a faith-based outreach ministry that recently expanded to Cleveland. His gratitude to God extends to his family, especially his wife, Sandra Alene, to whom he’s been married for over 45 years. Together, they have three children and have shared their marital journey on national television, crediting their enduring love and strength to God’s blessings. Hill is also the author of In Search of the Truth, a reflection on his life’s journey and testimony. He continually praises the Lord for His guidance, declaring, “Praise the Lord, for He is worthy to be praised, always!”
Sandra Hill
Senior Vice President
A native of Little Rock, Arkansas, has been a resident of Florida since 1977. She accepted CHRIST at a young age and is a member of member of Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church, Orlando where she serves as a Deaconess, choir president, member of the Graduation Celebration Committee, member of the inaugural class of The Bible Academy and teaches various Christian Education classes. Hill is a Golden Life Member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
Hill holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Hendrix College and a Master of Arts in Organizational Management from the University of Phoenix. She has a background in development in higher education as former Director of Foundation Support and Coordinator of Volunteer Groups for Bethune-Cookman College. Since 2006, she has been a Florida State Certified Building Contractor and is senior vice president of HZ Construction, Inc.
The graceful Mrs. Hill is extremely humble, but a vital cog in the HZ Machine. She is married to Anderson C. Hill, II and is the mother of 3 wonderful children and grandmother of 3.
Andy Hill III
Vice President
is a native of Florida. His formal education includes West Orange High School and Savannah State University. He is a Florida State Certified General Contractor and serves as the Vice President of HZ Construction, Inc. Hill is a member of Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church in Orlando, where he participates in the Security Ministry and serves as a board member of the Community Development Corporation. Additionally, Hill is a board member of the Disciples in Training.
Throughout his career in the construction industry, he has held various roles, including Foreman, Superintendent, Project Engineer, Project Manager, and Project Executive. He has worked on numerous projects for Orange County Public Schools, GOAA, Amway/Kia Center, and Mt. Pleasant MBC. He is very involved in all aspects HZ! Andy’s strong business acumen coupled with a warm personality make him very easy to count on to complete your projects!
He is the Godfather of four beautiful little ladies and a fan of all things Central Florida Sports, including the Orlando Magic, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Florida Gators.
A.J. Handal
Senior Project Engineer / Assistant Superintendent
A.J. grew up in New York City and Miami, Florida. After achieving his undergraduate degree from The University of Miami, he completed two graduate degrees from UCF has made Orlando his home with his lovely wife Sandra.
A.J. brings his analytical mind and attention to detail in many areas of HZ Construction. A.J. is involved in Project Management from establishing safety protocols and planning the specific of tasks completion. He is also responsible for performing site visits to ensure the secure and proper execution of the project’s tasks. He is up to date with his documentation of projects and verifying reliable data is part of his work code. A believer that nothing occurs by accident and invokes this doctrine of determinism in his career at HZ Construction. He actively trains staff in the field through didactic and practical applications to achieve safe and quality work performance. He assists the administration with payroll and Human Resource duties.
During his free time A.J. enjoys traveling, sporting events such as his beloved Miami Hurricanes and SCUBA diving. A.J. is a member of the Knights Templar.

Roderick McKenzie, Jr.
Capture Manager / Project Engineer
Roderick; originally from Nassau, Bahamas is now a Floridian with his family which includes his loving wife and beautiful young daughter. His formal education includes a Bachelor of Science in Architecture and a Master’s Degree in Facilities Management from Florida A&M University.
As the HZ’s Capture Manager - Roderick should be your first avenue of contact with questions about any potential projects and viability of teaming with the most cost-effective deals for the reduction of procurement expenses while always focusing on quality performance.
Complimenting his experience, Roderick possesses advanced training and expertise in the construction industry as a Field Engineer and Superintendent. Many of our vendors appreciate his hard work and ethical values while quick to display a genuine smile.
When Roderick is away from his HZ Construction duties he enjoys playing and viewing basketball as well as wake boarding in Central Florida lakes. Mr. McKenzie is a Minister and a member of his church’s PRAISE Team.
Ms. Erma G. Peterson
Proposal Manager
Earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis on accounting, Computer Science and Mathematics from Langston University. With many years working within governmental work for the State of Arkansas she calls upon her skills as an Auditor and Computer Systems Designer and Analyst.
As the HZ Construction Proposal Manager, she works with a variety of vendors in response to bids and executes the proposals in an accurate and timely fashion. Her attention to detail and time management is very evident in the efficient and effective manner she works and leads by example.
She has an extensive career as a Foster Parent and proudly laid the groundwork for her foster children’s academic successes as they all achieved High School Diploma’s. She also has been elected The Ward 2 Representative of the Little Rock Cent Commission and currently the President of HOPE Neighborhood Association where advocates for unity within her neighborhood. A proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, she makes her home in Little Rock, Arkansas and frequently engages staff members and vendors via teleconferencing.
